Prior to the Jersey States banknotes issues of 1963, Bank of England notes were used in Jersey during the German Occupation of the Channel islands during WWII, permission was given for the printing and circulation of banknotes from 6 pence to the £1. This was to alleviate a shortage of cash on the island.
Issues from 1963. With the threat of entry into the Euro still very much alive, I have purchased some more Jersey Specimen notes. The strong possibility that this Government wish to take us into the Euro, losing us all these precious issues is not something I look forward to.
