T8 BRADBURY 10/- TREASURY TRAINING USE NOTE * STAMPED ** NO SERIAL NO *

10 Shilling

J.S. Bradbury

Stamped "NOT VALID FOR TRAINING USE ONLY".

1914 Serial No:

The same size as the original but on thicker paper which has browned with age

My understanding is that a quantity of forged 10/- and £1 notes entered circulation. A quantity of unissued notes was seized. Some of them were subsequently stained and stamped "NOT VALID FOR TRAINING USE ONLY". I am told they were sent to local banks in the area for comparison purposes. THIS NOTE HAD NOT BEEN NUMBERED. The prefix number has been punch cancelled. The note is wrinkled with a corner fold.
